Whentrying to install software for my iPaq (and for a few other
installations in the past) I got the 1711 error:
'Event Viewer Error Message:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MsiInstaller
Description:
Product: Microsoft Office 2000 Premium -- Error 1711. An error occurred
while writing installation information to disk. Check to make sure enough
disk space is available, and click Retry, or Cancel to end the install.'
There is enough disk space, though.
Microsof's site gives:
'To resolve this issue, use the kill.exe command-line utility to kill
Msiexec.exe. Using Task Manager to stop Msiexec.exe does not work. Entering
net stop msiserver at a command prompt also does not work.'
But what is the kill.exe command line utility, please? I assumed it would
be a command in MS-DOS, but it seems not. A google search gives this site:
http://www.mattkruse.com/utilities/ is this what I need to download? Or
any other advice for me to resolve this problem, please.
