I
ImTinkerbell
I am attempting to install Office 2007 Professional. I continually get the
error message: Error 1913: Setup cannot update file C:/windows/win.ini.
Verify that the file exists in your system and that you have sufficient
permissions to update it.
I have tried all recommended advice that I found online:
1) I am logged in as system admin
2) The win.ini file DOES exist, and does not exceed 64kb
3) The "read only" box IS not checked
4) I have tried renaming win.ini to win.old, rebooted, attempted to install
software (same error), renamed file back, rebooted.
Microsoft indicates that I should be able to contact them for support, but
are asking that I provide the product code. However, I cannot obtain the
product code as it is NOT yet installed on my computer... which is the
problem to begin with.
Has ANYONE else had this difficulty? It does not allow me to uninstall
previous versions of office without giving be the same error 1913 win.ini
issue.
I am getting desperate and really frustrated. Does anyone have any ideas,
suggestions, experience with this same issue?
I really would appreciate any help!
Thank you!
