I've posted a similar message at Vista discussion group but I was told that
this is the correct group.

Setting up Office 2003 Pro (open license edition) on Vista Business SP1. The
OS has the latest patches installed.
While Office 2003 setup is copying files, I get the following error:
Error 1913. Setup cannot update file
C:\Windows\system32\mapisvc.inf. Verify that the file exists in your system
and that you have sufficient permissions to update it.
Since I can't continue setup from that point, I cancel setup. That action
rolls everything back.
Vista security is new to me. It appears that the only group that has FULL
permission on MAPISVC.INF file is TrustedInstaller. I've never heard of
TrustedInstaller group. The rest of the group/users can only Read & Execute
MAPISVC.INF file. That's the reason why Office setup can't proceed.
Has anyone seen this problem? How do I install Office 2003 on Vista?
