Error 1919 and ODBC Error Messages Article 324628

I have received the above error messages. I am using
OFFICE 2000 Professional on Windows XP.

I referred to Ms Knowlledge base article 324628 which
advised that I DL MDAC 2.6 and to then redistribute Jet
4.0 (I downloaded both). It also advised that if I am
unsure about system details that I DL MDAC Component
Checker which I did.

Component checker reported that it found a match

MDAC 2.7 SP1 on Windows XP SP1.

So now I am unsure if I should install MDAC 2.8 or Jet 4.0
SP 8.

Can anyone help?
