Error -192, any ideas?

Have been plagued by an error message -192 recently.
Usually occurs when displaying HTML formatted emails with graphics.
A blank error window pops up, with just the Entourage logo on the left,
and a -192 on the right.

Every action attempted in the program thereafter is greeted with the
same message. Force Quit is the only relief.

Any and all assistance appreciated.
Pre-emptively, of course.

Hi,

I think I have tracked this error down to a problem with certain
emails. Originally I thought it was due to attachments, but have
recently had the issue with a particular HTML email without an
attachment. I am guessing that it may have something to do with
headers not being what Entourage is expecting.

The email with the attachment was plain text and I didn't have to
click on it to get the error. Once I moved it to the deleted items
folder, the crashing stopped and I was able to view it and download
the file.

The HTML email caused the error after I viewed it. Moving it to the
deleted items folder and viewing it still caused the error.

I know this is not a real answer, but hopefully it will help you track
down your problem.

We have been getting error -192 periodically for a long time now (~10
months), ever since the upgrade to Panther and my wife and I started using
Entourage with Fast User Switching enabled. We applied all the Office v.X
updates a long time ago.

Don't know what is the controlling variable here (sure, it has something to
do with the file's resource fork), but have shared our experiences here and
carefully followed MVP troubleshooting advice repeatedly in previous months,
sadly to no avail. I gave up in late March '03, as we kept looping back to
the url Diane pointed you to.

However, that url pointer says it is fixed with update Office 10.1.2. Not
true in this case. We never had the problem until _after_ we had installed
all the Office updates, then later upgraded to Panther/Fast User Switching.

I was just checking back here to see if Office 2004 addresses the problem
(since there will be no more updates for v.X, I assume). Can someone confirm
whether this problem occurs with Panther/Office 2004 users? If not, then I
might buy the upgrade soon. If it does, then I will defer the upgrade until
the fix is made.
