error 1933 during installation

Could someone help me with the installation of Office Pro 2000. I am using XP Home Edition. Everytime I try to load the software, I get error 1933. "The Windows Installer service cannot update one or more protected Windows files"
I've tried 2 suggestions that support gives-scannow, and using selective startup. Neither worked. Any suggestions?
