Error 2 opening registry key

I am running FP 2002, have XP standard sp2. I manage 2 sites, only get the
following error message one of them: Error 2 opening registry
key..../ports/port 80.

I made the registry suggested fix at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;264922

but to no avail. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
