I install updates regularly. Since a few weeks, after installing updates, I
cannot open Word or Excel without getting an error message. In Excel the
error reads:

Microsoft Visual Basic
Error - 2147024894 (80070002)

In Word, the error reads:

WordAddin
Automation Error

As a result, I can't use Acrobat anymore for making PDF-files. Can anyone
tell me how to solve this problem?

You don't mention which version of Office you have or what updates you
installed (were they to Office, Acrobat or Windows, for example?)

In any case, since Adobe and not MS wrote the code that's causing the errors,
you should probably ask about this on their forum too. Be sure to mention the
version and so on as above.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think the problem is Adobe related, because
everything worked just fine untill I updated my Microsoft software. I use
Windows Vista, Excel 2007 and Word 2007.

You can say it's one of two things:

- The add-in's incompatible with the update
or
- The update's incompatible with the add-in

Add-ins are a bit like fish riding on the bow wave of a supertanker.
If the tanker changes course in a way that doesn't suit the fish, guess which one
has to adapt. ;-)

Incidentally, if you've installed Service Pack 2, you now have the Save as PDF
add-in from MS installed. You can make PDFs w/o Acrobat's add-in (though the
AcroAdd-in might support some features that the MS one doesn't).
