Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

Email Client: Exchange

our internet connection was down for 4 days and when it was finally restored, Entourage could no longer connect to our email server. I rebuilt the database twice, but no luck. The above error message says, " Mail could not be sent, Entourage cannot find the server. Verify the server info in entered correctly in the Account Settings and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preference is correct".
The Refresh and Send/Receive buttons are grayed out.
Any ideas? Thanks!

If you can access web sites from a browser, then your DNS settings are
probably OK. Did you in fact verify that the server info in Account Settings
is still correct? Did anything about your settings get changed while you
were trying to restore your Internet connections.

This could be related to the DNS cache poisoning that prompted the server
updates recently.

Go to OpenDNS and set up a free account.
<http://www.opendns.com/>

How to set new options:
OpenDNS > Get Started > Enable OpenDNS: Mac OS X Leopard
<https://www.opendns.com/start?device=apple-osx-leopard&print>

Enter the new DNS settings. Test.

If that does not work, create a new Identity and let Entourage sync backup
to your Exchange account.

Let me know if this helps.

OMG, the problem was so stupid....someone snagged my patch cable while I was away and reconnected it to the second, unconfigured, ethernet port!
There will be (electronic) blood!

Well, that would make it difficult to connect. :)

I suggest wet noodles to lash the culprit.

OOPS, didn't type the message before it posted. I've been getting the same message, but for only one of the two accounts I have. I don't understand why I can receive mail for one, but not the other. I checked accounts settings for both and they seem identical, unless I'm missing something deep down.

Please help.

Did you check that "Advanced Sending options" are correct for both accounts?
Do both accounts use the same SMTP server?
