Error 3197

F

Foo.sg

When I try to open one of my BE mdb I get the message "The Microsoft Jet
database engine stopped the process because you and another user are
attempting to change the same data at the same time. (Error 3197)". This
happended after some fault in the connection between the FE and BE and the
error happend even after I copied the BE from the server to a standalone PC.

Can anyone please help how I can recover my mdb?

Thanks

First, make a copy of the problem database. If you've already tried to open the database, you may have a leftover
lockfile (.ldb file). Check the directory with the database and delete any .ldb files you see.

Can you actually open the backend? If so, then have you tried Compact & Repair form the Access menu? Open Access, open
the database, then click Tools - Database Utilities

JetComp sometimes works when C&R doesn't: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/273956

Can you import to a new, blank database?

Finally, if none of these work, it might be time to restore from a recent backup (and recreate the data that's missing)
or contact a repair service. There are several out there; www.pksolutions.com seem to be often recommended, but I've
never had need of their services (thankfully).

Tony Toews has a great page on this: http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruption/retrievedata.htm
Can anyone please help how I can recover my mdb?
