Error -39 : End of file - Entourage 2008

Hi,

My Entourage is set up to synch with an exchange service.

I got this error a couple of weeks ago. I tried to fix it but to no avail. I
then logged on a couple of days later and Entourage worked.

It has now reappeared again. As per the threads I've read I removed the
microsoft folder from preferences. I have also created a new identity and
deleted the old identity. I'm still hitting the same problem and now can't
even import my mail from the exchange server into the new identity.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Nathan

Try creating a new Identity in a new User's account. Go to System
Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the New User by
logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. See if Entourage connects in the
new User. Let me know what you find.

You might need to download the combo updater from Apple and run it again
rather than using Software Update. Doing so overwrites potentially
problem-causing files. Combo updaters will install on the same version as
they¹re applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

Leopard:

Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update
(For both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs )

Run Repair Disk in Disk Utility. If you have Disk Warrior, I would run that
too.

I don't use Exchange so I'm way out of my element here, but could the file
on the server be bad? Is there anyway to rebuild that file THEN see if it
creates a problem with Entourage.

I've run the disk repair and that has had no effect. The exchange server is
externally hosted by a third party and they won't do ad-hoc rebuids.

Do you think a de-install/re-install of Entourage would help?

Thanks.

No, this is not the problem. If a new Identity does not solve the problem,
then the problem is on the server. I would consider a new provider.

Move all your mail off the server to folders "On My Computer". Delete the
mail on the server. Just copying over should clean it up. You can verify
your messages, then you can copy back to the server.
