I'm don't know very much about technology, so please make whatever
help you can provide simple. I called tech support once and was told
to save by Main Identity file, then create a new one because I had to
force quit Entourage when I tried to retrieve my emails. I kept
getting the 4362 error message. I created a new identity (and put the
old database and data cache files and on the desktop. That didn't
work, so the tech support person suggested I get Entouraid, which
restores lost files, for price that seemed extremely reasonable
considering I'd lost thousands of emails. I bought it and it restored
the emails, luckily, since I depend on them and need them for my work.
They are crucial! But now the same symptoms as before are occuring.
Namely, that when I launch Entourage, the main window is partially
obscured by an empty light grey panel. I can retrieve new emails
sometimes (until I get that repetitive 4362 message that prevents me
from going on), and I also can see that there are emails listed on the
menu "underneath" the grey panel. How do I know this? Because when I
move the cursor over the panel and click randomly, the email titles
and column information shows up sometimes for whatever row in the list
that I happen to be on when I click. Doesn't look like the info is
gone, just not showing itself to me me below the third to 11th email
(depending on how many I download when I try and how many I delete).
I have not reinstalled yet -- afraid to do that for fear of losing
emails I need. I spent the ENTIRE DAY yesterday restoring my email
database with Entouraid. I don't want to lose everything I did
yesterday. Any ideas? (Am I allowed to offer my email address? Or do
I need to look at your answers online? I've never done this before.)
Thank you!! Ann D.
