Error 5001: Unable to log on

I am unable to log on. I am getting this error:

"Project was unable to log you on at this time because the Project Server
database cannot be accessed. Please try again later or check with your
Project Server administrator. (5001)"

Our IS guy can't figure it out. What can we do to resolve this?

Could you give more info of your system configuration? like if everything is
installed on the same server or if you have the database on another one.
If so, are them on the same domain?

This is the "IS Guy" replying

Information regarding the systems is as follow:

System A:
MS Project 2003 running on Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition.

System B:
MS SQL 2000 running on Windows 2000 Server SP4.

Yes, both systems are on the same domain and are able to ping each other.
Services associated to specific accounts have been checked and do start
properly.

The only thing I found so far regarding this error had to do with the SQL
server being out of hard drive space, but that is not our case as there are
several Gigs of space available on both servers. It seems like the issue
has to do with MS Project not being able to access the SQL side due to login
failure of some kind. I cannot even access the MS Project configuration on
the MS Project Server itself via the browser as the same error gets
displayed.

Thanks for the link. Eventually, this led to our successful login of MS
Project and Project Web Access.
