I am trying to insert an EMF graphic into Visio 2002 using Insert |
Picture | From file... I am getting the error message:

An error (911) occurred during the action Insert Picture.

Visio cannot open the file for reading.

I am able to import this same EMF file into Word wothout a problem and
I am able to import many other EMF files that were created in the same
way into Visio.

I cannot find this error message in the help file.

Can anyone tell me whats wrong?

I found a KB article indicating that is has to do with Chinese
characters in the file name.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;293923

There are no Chinese characters in the file name. Renaming the file
didn't help, but renaming the folder did. No Chinese characters there,
either.

Judging from the KB article, this has been a bug since Visio 2000.
Maybe it's time for the MSFT engineers to put their Jolt colas down
long enough to fix some bugs.

I think I discovered what the problem is. This error occurs if the
total path length including filename and extension is over 127
characters. I have no idea about the Chinese characters.
