Error 924 when trying to open windows metafile

When I save a file as a windows metafile from a program, then 'open with' the file in VISIO, it works. I am using VISIO 2000. When one of my collegues tries to 'open with' the same file on his PC, it gives an 'error 924 unable to open file...'. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening
