One of our users is going to try out Office 2003 before we
upgrade everyone in the company. He installed Office 2003
from the Administrative Install Point I set up on our
server. When he tries to run the programs in Office 2003,
he gets a dialog that asks for the location of the Office
XP Pro.msi file. We show the correct location, but then
get an error stating that it is not a valid installation
package for the product Office XP Professional. However,
this is where it (Office XP) was installed from.
I just found out though, that he had previously used
office update to update the Office XP installation rather
than using the Administrative Install Point for Office
XP. I am guessing that the error we are getting is due to
his Office XP installation being different than the
administrative install point (which had been patched to
SP2 only and nothing after). The question is, how do we
get Office 2003 to work on his computer? Do we need to
uninstall Office 2003, reinstall office XP, and then
reinstall Office 2003. The catch though is
this....Outlook 2003 is working just fine, and we don't
want to lose his settings for that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
