I would like to add that i have created an index in my document. Moreover i
have added the index entries manually.

Hi to all,

i deleted all {XE ...} entries. Then i deleted the index and this strange
error message "Error! Bookmark not defined." disappeared.
So i guess that index may have caused the error.
Does anyone know what is going wrong with index?

Thanks again
Thanasis

When you create a TOC, bookmarks are created in the document. That's the
only thing I can think of that has any relevance to the situation. What
happens if you update the TOC?

i see many times the error message "Error!Bookmark not defined", inside TOC
entries.
I see also the same message besides words that have been marked as index
entries, inside my document.

Thanks in advance

Perhaps it would be better not to put XE fields in headings that will be
included in the TOC? ISTR running into trouble doing that. Instead, insert
the XE field at the beginning of the paragraph following the heading
(assuming it's not another heading).

Hi suzanne,

i removed all XE entries from headings. Now i don't see any message "Error!
Bookmark not defined." inside the TOC.
HOWEVER i do see the error message in PrintPreview, besides each word that
i have marked as XE entry.
Why?

Thanks

i would like also to note that i have marked as XE entries:
1) words in bold
2) words inside bullets and numbering

Thanks

The way to diagnose what's happening is to examine the fields that are
producing the error messages. In Print Preview with one of the error
messages displayed, press Alt+F9 to toggle field code display on. The error
message should be replaced by { something }. What's the "something" inside
the brackets?

Hi Herb,

i think i found out the error. Besides some words that i marked as index
entries i see the following e.g.:
class{XE "class"}{X "class"}.
I think the latter {X "class"} produces the error "Error! Bookmark not
defined. ". When i delete it the error disappears.
I didn't put any {X "class"}. Why did Word put that besides many words
inside my document ?

Thank you
Thanasis
