Hi there,
I have created some word documents and am using the insert field
codes. At this point, they are simple and I'm not using the ASK or any
of the other types of field codes because my word documents interact
with a database and the Bookmarks pull data directly from the database
through a program that I cannot modify. Unfortunately, there are not
bookmarks to pull all of the necessary information from the database
at this time.
I insert a new field code by using the ctrl + F9 key, and then type in
the prompt I need the user to see. The user then opens the document
through the program, it goes through and auto populates the bookmarks
pulling the data from the database. They then go to the top of the
document and use the F11 key to go from one field code to the other.
If the user does not enter data there, then they will get the Error!
Bookmark not Found message.
Here's the problem. I can do this same process, and sometimes when the
user does not enter data in the field code, it gives the Error!
Bookmark not found. In some instances (within the same document), that
error does NOT show up. Then there is nothing there, and if you were
to quickly glance at the document (or print it), it appears all field
codes have been entered. My concern is that if someone mistakenly
skips a stop code, they will not know that they've missed it without
reading the document word for word. Some of these documents are quite
lengthy, and they are legal documents. Therefore it is critical that
the error message show up for easily identifying missing information.
Does anyone know why the error would not show up sometimes? I'm using
Word 2002 at this time, and have tried it on Word 2003 and having the
same issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
