Error Code: 0x80042110 (PLEASE HELP!!)

I can send e-mail messages out but cannot receive. I get the following
message:

Task 'SBC Global - Receiving' reported error (0x80042110) : 'Your
POP3 server is providing inconsistent information. The number of messages
returned by the STAT command does not match the number of items returned by
the UIDL or LIST commands. Contact your POP3 or Internet service provider.'

I have contacted my ISP (AT&T / SBC / Yahoo) and they created the same
profile on a test computer & had no trouble receiving.

At this point, I attempted the same thing. Creating a profile in Outlook
Express, and also was able to receive with no problem.

So this tells me, I may have a corrupt file or folder in Outlook 2003. Is
there anything I can do short of re-creating a profile in Outlook 2003? Like
maybe delete a file or folder from Windows Explorer?

I had the remnants of a corrupt message on my ISP's server. They purged my
inbox at the server, and that solved everything. Getting this accomplished
may require escalating your issue to an upper level of your ISP's tech
support. I found that the entry level of my ISP's tech support didn't have a
clue, even though I knew what the problem was.
