Error Code 9102

B

Brian

When closing a published project file, I received a dialog box saying "An
exception occurred in the Project Server. Project Server encountered a
problem with this error code: 9102. Please contact your server
administrator."

I did some research and found a thread pertaining to this problem dating
back to 2004. In that scenario the user was using a master project. In this
case, however, master projects are not being used. Is there another known
cause of this error?

Thank you,
Brian

Hi. Can you be more specific please?

Do all Project Server projects do this? Is this the only project that does
this? Did it ever work, or it never worked? Is this a new install of
Project Server, or has this been working for years now and it just happened?

Depending on all of these details, the answers will vary greatly.

I assume nothing works, or that all projects are experiencing the same
problem...
Okay, check that the the MS SQL user for MS Project still can log in. You
might want to check to make sure your Windows service account is still
working can
log in. These are easy to check, just try logging in and see if you can.
If not,
then that's the problem

Also, your MSProjectUser and MSProjectServer user logins may have lost
connection. In this case, you need to wipe out these users in the SQL
database and recreate them; then, you need to connect to them using EditSite.

If you never used EditSite, I srongly recommend you practice on a test
machine because if you goof, you will never connect again. You can lookup
Editsite on

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823529/

It gives you more information than you need, but it will expplain all the
connections so that you can successfully use EditSite without hosing your
system. (Please practice first on a test unit!!!)

If this didn't help or you need more help, please repost because once a
question is answered, others don't look at it usually... And, with the
details listed above so that whoever answers your question will have a better
background of the question.

Thanks.

Thanks for the information, Rick. I only experience this with one project
and I haven't experienced the problem since the post. I will, however, look
into the information that you gave me in trying to prevent it from happening
again. Thanks for the help.
