Greetings all. I am trying to connect to Project server through MS Project
but i keep gettin an error message that states the following:

"Cannot Connect.

Project was unable to establish a connection with the selected Project
Server. This might be due to a loss in network connectivity...etc"

I believe its an IIS issue because when i try to connect locally from the
server that has Project Server installed, it will connect. But when i try to
connect from a different client, I get this error message.

Please advice. Your input is highly appreciated.

palmaconsultant,

If you configure the Project Server account in Project Pro (Tools -
Enterprise Options - Project Server Accounts), you should see a button to
test the connection to the server. Can you test the connection successfully
or does the test also result in an error message.

Additionally, is this with PS2003 or PS2007?

Let us know...

Palma:

You really need to specify which version you're using, explain your setup,
describe the client you're trying to connect from, etc. It sounds like more
of a firewall or network issue if you can connect from the server itself.
IIS is not likely the culprit as an IIS configuration problem would likely
surface on the server itself as well.

I had the same issue and I fixed it by going to Project 2003 (client) menu
Tools -> Enterprise Options -> Microsoft Office Project Server Accounts.

Once in the popup window for Project Server Accounts, click on the "Add"
button to add a new account. There enter domainName\userName and the project
server URL. Dont forget to check the "Set as default account" checkbox. Then
click OK to come out of the wizard and try again.

Thanks
Alex

I'm having the same error on a client. (03 Pro Client - 03 Server)

I've checked permissions and roles; Project Pro enterprise options, and from
another machine, client can NOT access. So it's user level.

Client was able to acces prior to using fully qualified domain name. Does
the change from alias to qualified foul things up? How do I fix?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Marc,

Once testing the connection, it returns an acceptance message stating that
the URL specified is correct. I am working on Client Pro 03 and Server Pro
03. Thanks for your help.
