Error connecting to Project Server

In Project Professional I have, in my Project Server Accounts, a profile to
my Project Server. Its URL is http://mycompany/ProjectServer. When I test
the connection I receive the following error:

"Unexpected server response. Project Server has returned an unextpected
response. ..."

Upon clicking the View button for more details, I receive an error page
indicating that

"You are not authorized to view this page: You do do not have permission to
view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied because
your Web browser is sending a WWW-Authenticate header field that the Web
server is not configured to accept. ... HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized:
Access is denied due to server configuration. Internet Information Services
(IIS)"

Nevertheless, I can access the URL above within my web browser.
