Error: Could not access the Search sevice configuration database

Hi,
I received this error from the SharePoint Configuration wizard during a
Project Office Server 2007 install on a stand-alone Win2k3 Server box.

Project Server was installed after SQL Server 2005 standard and SQL Server
2005 SP2 although I understand that on a stand-alone machine this isn't
required because it installs SQL Server Express.

Although I have seen various posts regarding this error when discussing
Sharepoint Services 3.0, none seem to directly relate to my issue as far as I
can tell.

I tried re-installing the software to no avail and we are now in the process
of rebuilding the box.

Has anyone seen this problem with a Project Server install, or can shed any
light on this?
