Error during install

I was installing Outlook 2003 on a new XP machine that
never had any version of Outlook on it. It asked me for
my email server - I chose Other|Novell GroupWise - then
the process hung. Now, when I start Outlook I get an
error and an invitiation to re-start it in safe mode.
That also errors with an invitation to start "Detect and
Repair". That runs but then when I click Outlook again -
the same thing starts over. Any help is greatly
appreciated.

You may need to check with Novell to see if the GroupWise component you have
is compatible with Outlook 2003. Given the symptoms you're seeing, there's a
good chance that it's not.

I appreciate the reply. The component I was installing
was listed in the Outlook install. It is not a Novell
component. Is there anyway to get past this error?
Thank you.

Microsoft does not provide a client component for GroupWise. It must be a
Novell component.

I would be happy to email you a pic of the screen in
question. I am both an MCSE and a CNE - I only offer
that information to let you know I am well aware of both
products and when I am installing one over the other. I
appreciate the information, but I need to know how to
resolve this without a re-install if possible.

Is there a reg setting that looks for a mail server I can
modify? Is there a switch that I can add to the EXE to
bypass the mail server check? Anything at all? I
appreciate your help.

All the mail server settings are in the user's mail profile, which you can
modify without starting Outlook using the Control Panel | Mail applet.
