Error during publishing to Web

M

MelissaM

I continue to receive the error "The Web site you have specified does not
appear to be FrontPage enabled, so you cannot upload your files to it using
the FrontPage enabled Web protocol."
I only have Publisher on my computer, NOT FRONTPAGE. Do I need FrontPage
installed in order to upload to my Web site??
My host states the FrontPage Extension is installed and correctly set up on
their end.
Thank you!

Visit
http://www.publishermvps.com/WebDesign/Version2003/tabid/33/Default.aspx for
articles on publishing and on trouble-shooting problems. And you can test if
FP extensions are installed by looking for the page

_vti_inf.html

type your domain name followed by that page file name.
if FPSE is installed you will see the FP page, if not then tell the host
they did not install FPSE.

FP is not required on your local machine for Publisher's http functionality,
only FPSE on the server. See the FAQ -

I removed and re-installed the FPE to my host and verified it was there using
your tip below...good to go.

I recreated my Web folder that would be published. I thought I had found
the problem when I looked in the folder and found files that had nothing to
do with my sites pages.

I used the Web Publishing Wizard and still received the same error message.
Is the message referring to my site in Publisher? Is one of the pages
possible bad?

I do not know what else to try but will purchase FrontPage and import my
Publisher file into FP and publish it from there. Hopefully that will work.

Any other tips or thoughts you might have for me. Thank you David!!

You don't need to buy or use FP, and I recommend against mixing the two
products, their webs are not very compatible. If you feel you just can't
determine the upload issue you are welcome to submit the pub file to me at
(e-mail address removed) with the subject line of "pub customer test" and include
details of this issue and I will review it.
