I have a number of users that are having problems opening up an attachment of
any kind.

When I log into my workstation I have no problem opening up the attachments.
However, when I log into there workstation I have the same problem as them.
That means there is something different between my workstation and theirs
but I'm not sure what it is.

The other odd thing is if I have them login the safe mode (Start | Run |
outlook /safe) it opens just fine. If I have them login to the web version
of outlook they have not problem opening up the attachment.

I have also looked at KB932086 You may experience performance problems when
you are working with items in a large .pst file or in a large .ost file in
Outlook 2007
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;932086... but that did not
fix it.

I have adobe professional on both workstations, I tried uninstalling it and
then re-installing it but it still does not work.

We are on Outlook 2007 (12.0.6300.5000) SP1 MSO (12.0.6213.1000) Part of
Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007.

Does anyone know what else I can look at to fix this?

When you start outlook in safe mode and things work, that means to me that
you have a plugin installed that is mis-behaving. Look in the trust center
for the list of add-ins installed. Compare that to yours. Uncheck any
differences on the problem workstations. Play around with that until you
find out which one is causing the problem. Troubleshooting from that point
will depend on the plugin, the need for it etc.

Thanks for the information. However, in Outlook 2007 I went to (Tools |
Trust Center | Add-in) and disabled my COM add-in's that were different from
one workstation to the other. I was comparing my email account on
workstations. I still had problems opening up the JPG (1.01 MB) but had no
problems opening the JPG (850KB). (Please note my desktop computer opened
the attachements with no problems but my laptop did not work).

I also tried completely removing the other addins that were different but
it's still hanging.

Any other Ideas or where I can look?

Thanks!

Are you saying that it does work on your laptop when you start Ouylook in
safe mode?

Hi,
It works in safe mode. However, I figured it out. It was our network. We
have our network hooked through our phone system and when I hooked my
computer directly to the wall and not through the phone system it worked.
Odd. But I believe it's our phone system. Thanks for all the help.
