Error: File test.doc is not available

I have a new installation of MS Word 2003. I create a document and save it
as test.doc or test.rtf, and close the document. When I try to open the
document, Word displays a message "The file test.doc is not available".

I have a stand alone PC, with XP.

Can anyone help please?

And Norton Anti Virus... disable the Office Plugin under NAV.
