Error Importing a PST File After a system restore

Nic Stover

I have tried to solve this myself. Long story short my cpu crashed 2 months
ago while installing the Vista service pack and while I had everything backed
up it still took me forever to get things back in order after the motherboard
repair.

I ran the system restore today and tried to import my Outlook messages to
get initially the error that I didn't have permission. I figured out how to
fix that problem but not I get the message that the .pst cannot be opened. I
tried to import through file>open>outlook data file and got the same error.

I have a user on my computer called hptest that could be causing some of the
problem. Anyways I am a single person small business and these e-mails are
crucial. Thanks for any help in advance.

The outlook data file needs to be stored on the hard drive, in Vista copy to
Documents and if you used a cd the read only attribute under properties of
the data file needs to be turned off.
Then in Outlook, File>Open>Data File
If you still get an error post the *exact err msg*
