I'm having issues with a user recently upgraded to Office 2K3. Whenever you
open Excel the above error message (error in Excel: "Compile error in hidden
module: <module name>") appears. Another error occurs when closing the
program. the "hidden modules" are Autoexec, Autoexecnew & Distmon! Anyone
have any ideas about these errors, please fill me in.

Of Course! How can everyone but me find helpful articles on Microsoft?
Jeez! Anyways, thanks a million and two... Your my MVP too Susan!

It's something that improves with practice...I'll admit it's not always very
intuitive.

Every time I escalate an issue, someone else finds it in the KB, too <g>

Doh...
Bad news. None of the Resolutions listed in the article fixed the problem =(
I did notice that when I opened Excel a new pdfmaker.xls was created in
c:\Documents and Settings\<User's Name>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Excel\Xlstart, which was then deleted when the program was
closed!? So much for convention...

Bad news, none of the resolutions in the article had the intended affect. I
updated Acro Reader to latest version, as well as Office 2K3 SP1, moved all
the pdfmaker files to My Docs folder and we don't run NAV! Figures... So
much for convention! Now what? Anyone else had any experience with this
Compile erro?

So, what happens if you go into Excel, then Tools | Add-Ins, and start
unchecking things to find the culprit? Sounds like Acrobat (writer) may be
causing some havoc? Do you still use Acrobat writer? You removed files
from XLSTART?

I think this happens if an unisntall of Acrobat (writer) is done; it doesn't
completely remove itself from Office.

By the way, I also searched http://www.google.com/groups and got a ton of
hits. Maybe one of those will help if this doesn't.
