I am about to release an Excel file to the MIT community that is suddenly
having trouble opening without generating an error (in Excel 2002 and 2003,
so far).
The error is: "Excel encountered an error and had to remove some formatting
to avoid corrupting the workbook. Please re-check your formatting carefully."
Once a user clicks past this message, it won't show up again -- but they'll
be alarmed at seeing the message at all, and will flood the help desk with
calls. I have to try to fix this at the file level, before they ever see the
message.
Unfortunately the file is huge (nearly 2 MB), has 15 worksheets and is
loaded with formatting. I have no idea how to troubleshoot or workaround the
error. Since I clicked past it initially, I can't even get the error to show
up again on this machine -- any idea how to "reset" Excel so that I can see
it again (and that way I'll know when I've eliminated it)?
Any help *greatly* appreciated. Thanks,
