Error Inserting Word OLE Object

I am having difficulty figuring out why I get an error
attempting to insert a Word doc file as an OLE Object.

When I Insert|Object - Create from file, and select a file
using the Browse option and click the "Link" box, I get a
popup message titled:
"Publisher"
"Cannot save object.
An OLE server cannot save an object you are using. Windows
may be low on memory or disk space, or the object may not
be registered correctly. Publisher restored the last
saved changes to this object."

I have uninstalled and re-installed Publisher and Word.
It appears to be some sort of problem with OLE and being
able to support Word documents. (Please see the OLE info
at the bottom. It appears OLE is lacking for several
programs I have loaded.)

I am running McAfee antivirus.
