Error Installing MS Office 97

I have a Windows 2000 Box working fine. I tried to install
my MS Office 97 onto it but it says Error - Can't Run 16-
bit Windows program - Check to ensure the path and
filename are correct and that all required libraries are
available.

I also get this error when installing some other third
party softwares.

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
