I get the following error installing MS Office Project

Error 1926. Could not set file security for
file 'C:\config.Msi\'. Error: 5. Verify that you have
sufficient privileges to modify the security permissions.
for this file.

Installing on a new machine running W2K and has MS Office
XP w/SP2 installed.

Any help/suggestions??????????

Does the id you are using have sufficient permissions for the root
folder (which from above is where the file config.Mis wants to be? Just
becuase it's the admin ID doesn't guarantee these access permissions
were granted or not revoked.

I logged into the machine both as the local administrator
and with my login which has Domain admin rights.

Good, but do one more thing. ... check the permissions those ID's give
you in the root folder (where the install program seems to want to put a
file).

I did a quick Google for this error ("Error 1926 microsoft") ... nothing
firm which points to any particular problem with Project. Some
references to installing other products when Norton Antivirus or other
anti-virus programs running. So maybe try turning off anti-virus (a
good practice anyway) and try again. For that matter, shutdown all
unnecessary programs.

Sorry, beyond that ... I'm out of ideas...

I think I remember seeing that one myself once...
Do you run the setup from a CD or from a network share?
If the latter - try copying the installation data to a local drive and
retry.
