Error installing MSOCache

L

louis

When reinstalling Office2003, MSO Cache was not installed. Setup logfile
indicates:

"Successfully started Office Source Engine in stand-alone mode. Error
0x80070002
Failed to create download for local caching. Error 0x80070002
Failed to determine local cache information from Office Source Engine.
Couldn't perform local caching"

Any ideas? Thanks - Louis

Solved the problem myself eventually. Solution might be helpful to others

It appears that after uninstalling a previous or same version of MSOffice,
the key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Delivery\SourceEngine\Downloads\<ProductGUID>\Sources" is not removed from the registry.
Uninstall again and be sure to remove this key also. Than reinstall and the
problem should be solved.
