Error installing Office on older machine

Margie

I am trying to install Office 2000 on an older Pentium
MMX) computer from my cd. There are 2 error messages I
keep getting:
"Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low
memory (low disk space for swapping file) or a corrupt
file"
Then I get:
"Installing this product requires the Windows Installer.
As error occurred when installing or upgrading the windows
installer."
I found a resolution to the second message on the MS
website but nothing for the first error.
My machine has 96 mb Ram and a 2 gig hard drive of which
1.38 is free.
Please help me resolve this issue
Thanks

What operating system are you running on the machine?
