Error installing SP1 update for Office2008 on MacBook running Leop

S

sp4rk13

In the "Select a destination" window, if I try to select Macintosh HD, I get
an error message saying:

"You cannot install Office 2008 SP1 Update (12.1.0) on this volume. A
version of the software required to install this update was not found on this
volume."

(Both Macintosh HD and my Windows partition have little red icons with
exclamation marks and can't be selected; but of course I want to install it
on Mac HD - I don't even have Office on Windows....)

What does this mean? Updates were working fine before, and I haven't changed
anything I'm aware of. Why am I unable to install this?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Reboot and try again. If it doesnt' work then, well you can always
reinstall 12.0 and re-run the update :-\ Tedious, but it worked here on
a couple of our Mac.

Hello,
I'm not sure why you are experiencing all this grief. First of all, make sure that you have of Office 2008 AutoUpdater installed properly and open it to check for updates.
Good luck.

I'm seeing the same error. My circumstances mught be different and I'm not
sure what to do to fix things. I had Office 2008 Home Edition installed and
then (due to getting a hosted Exchange server account) was able to download
the Exchange-ready version of Entourage. After I installed this the Updater
give the error seen by sp4rk13.
Now I could go ahead and remove and re0install Office, but where does that
leave my new Entourage, is there a way of layering these things so the
updater will work?
Seriously, I've got proper, paid-for versions of the software and I'm being
denied access to CRITICAL updates!!
Solution MacBU please!?
