Error linking dbf files "The extern table has not the expected format"

Dear all,

I'm having the following problem:

I have upgraded a PC from Win98 to WinXP SP2. On both installs I had Access
2000 9.0.3821 SR1 running. However on the XP machine I can no longer link
certain dbf files which worked fine on the Win98 machine.

Example:

Windows 98 with Access 2000 9.0.3821 SR1

Preise.dbf --> Linking & opening the file works
Zimmer.dbf --> Linking & opening the file works

Windows XP SP2 with Access 2000 9.0.3821 SR1

Preise.dbf --> Linking & opening the file works
Zimmer.dbf --> Linking & opening the file does NOT work, Error message: "The
external table has not the expected format"

Both Zimmer.dbf files are identical and not corrupt! Just that on the XP
machine the linking process does not succeed!
