Error! Main Document Only

I am getting "Error! Main Document Only". Every time I open this document in
various places throughout the document I am getting this error message. Each
time I delete this error message but the next time I open the document the
messages reappears. Please help.

Press Alt+F9. Any fields in the document will display with its delimiters,
{ }. Which field code is causing the error message?

Note that the usual cause of trouble is a SEQ field in a header or footer;
in the header/footer area, SEQ fields must include the \c switch (to
reference an occurrence in the main body of the document).

I use the ALT + F9 keys, but that only messes up the document even more? This error message only affects certain of my foot notes, but not others. What to do?
