Error message 1711 on Office 2000

D

Dorinda

I recently bought a new computer which didn't come with
Office. I am a student and must have Office 2000
installed. When I try to install I get an error message
1711 saying I can't complete. I looked this up and was
told to go to command-line utility and enter kill exe. I
have no idea what or where this is. Can anyone help?

Hi Dorinda,

In Windows 95 or 98, try the following:

Restart to an MSDOS Prompt and perform the following DOS Commands:

C:\>cd\Windows\System
C:\Windows\System>rename msiexec.exe msiexec.old
C:\Windows\System>rename msi.dll msi.old
C:\Windows\System>rename msihnd.dll msihnd.old

Restart into Windows.

Afterwards it would be best to download and install the latest version of
the
Windows
Installer.http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/m
si/setup/downloading_an_installation_from_the_internet.asp?frame=true

Please let me know has this helped You...
Thank you...
