error message: a fatal exception has occurred....

My version of Word won't open. When I click on the icon,
it starts to open to the extent that the box with the logo
appears, but then the entire computer freezes up. I fiddle
a bit and get a blue screen telling me: A fatal exception
OE has occurred at 0167:BFF9DFFF. I can't even close
Windows properly.

I thought that maybe this had to do with Outlook Express,
so I deleted it (wasn't using it anyways) but that didn't help.

Does anyone know what this error message is and how to fix
it? I'm a writer and all I really ever use is Word!!!
