Error message: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook

When I go to a website, and try to send an email to a contact on a website, I
get the above message and therefore cannot send the email from the webstie.
Outlook works fine by itself, but can't get it to kick in from a webpage.
HELP!

What operating system and version of Internet Explorer are you using?
Reason I ask is that setting the default e-mail client varies based on these
two programs.

When I go to a website, and try to send an email to a contact on a website,
I
get the above message and therefore cannot send the email from the webstie.
Outlook works fine by itself, but can't get it to kick in from a webpage.
HELP!

Right-click on your desktop and create a shortcut to:

mailto:

Then double-click on that shortcut. Does Outlook start using the
shortcut?

If you select start > default programs > set your default programs, is
Microsoft Outlook in the list? If it is, highlight it and then down toward
the bottom you can see if has all its defaults and/or set it has the default
which may fix the "mailto" links in web pages.

Vista home premium and IE 8.01

Might depend on which web browser you are using when you click on the
mailto: link in the web page.

Did you make Outlook the default e-mail client (both in Outlook's
configuration and also in Internet Options -> Programs tab)?
