Error Message can't send mail

Have had Entourage for years and love it .. for no reason this morning got this Error Message ..
Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods.
Mail could not be sent.

Can receive emails but can not send any .. am going mental .. help please thankyou ...

Did your ISP/email service provider change any of their settings? You can
usually find this information on their web page.

Same problem here. The ISP hasn't changed their settings. I've changed the smtp port from 587 (as it was supposed to be set up originally) back to the default of 25 and it intermittently works. Why would it sometime send and other times not? This is annoying and somewhat worrying. Help!>!

I've had this message a number of times but it has usually occurred
when my ISP has been fiddling with settings or tightening security.
Closing everything down and switching off the computer seems sometimes
to be effective.

Have you tried port 465 for smtp - that would be the suggested setting
for gmail:
