Error message comctl32.0cx when loading Word 2007. Solution?

Whenever I invoke Microsoft Word 2007 I get an error message to the the
effect that comctl32.0cx or one of its components is either missing or badly
registered. This has started happening only recently after using Office 2007
for some 6 months. Can anyone please help in fixing this? Thanks a lot
