Try using the Windows Installer cleanup utility, see: Description of the
Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

After you download and install it, it will appear in the Programs menu list.
Select it and you'll see a list of programs. Choose Microsoft Office 2000
and click Remove
Reboot your computer.
Then reinstall Office 2000 (make sure your anti virus software is not
running. To get a real clean install I would temporarily uninstall it and
then reinstall it after I finished installing the software).
