Error message in Excel

I was working on Excel spreadsheets created and had 25+ items open at
one time. After closing all but 2 items I was called away. Upon
returning, I unlocked my screen saver to find this message in Excel,
"Not enough system resources to display completely."

Any thoughts?

Also, does anyone have any knowledge of Excel file size restrictions?
