Need Help with a Word error message.

Everytime i try to open a saved word document, i get the below message before
it opens. The only option it gives with this message is the ok icon, which i
click. After clicking OK i am able to access the document fine, but i was
wondering if anyone knew how to remove this message. It only occurs with
saved documents. If i open a blank word document i don't receive this
message.

"The Command Line cannot be performed becuase a dialog box is open. Click
OK, and then close open dialog boxes to continue".

Regards

Use Alt + Tab to cycle through windows until you find the dialog that is
open. Chances are it is in the middle of the screen and under everything
else.

Now, go look in your Normal template for a rogue macro named "AutoOpen" that
is trying to do something each time a document opens. Re-name it and it
can't work.

If you're not good at Macros, simply close Outlook and Word (quit, not
minimised) and re-name the Normal.dot template. That should fix it. Word
will create a new one when it starts.

If not, report back with what you've found and we'll take you through the
full catastrophe of delousing Word :)

Cheers

Need Help with a Word error message.

Thankyou for you reply.

I have to admit, I am not very computer literate, so your reply didn't make
a lot of sense to me.

Firstly I don't know what a dialog box is. What is a normal template and how
do I access and edit it. Secondly what is a macro and how do I rename it.

OK. *Now* we have a problem :)

All of these things you ask about are in the Word help if you spend the time
looking for them.

But there's pages of them, and as a volunteer helper in here, I'm not going
to spend Sunday evening typing it all out again for you.

I am sorry: I think you might be best advised to book yourself into
"Getting started with computing" course at your local technical college.
Nothing beats having someone there to "Show" you the first time. The course
should be quite cheap, and the dividends it will pay in confident and
powerful use of the computer you've paid all that money for will be well
worth the investment.
