How do I turn off the error message "the command cannnot be performed because
a dialog box is open. Click OK and then close other dialog boxes to
continue." when opening word 2003. There does not appear to be any boxes
open??

Thanks, g-n-o. I am using Norton AnitVirus (as a part of Norton System
Works, but my version of System Works is 2005 and the Knowledge Base
reference you sent me to doesn't go past 2004. I don't know whether this
makes a real difference, but I haven't wanted to try your fix without
clarifying this.

Thanks, Herb. However, this problem does not occur when I start Word. It
only occurs when I open an existing Word document. Also, it does not occur
in any other Office application.

Read the help file that comes with your Norton System Works 2005,
or go to the Symantec website.

The same kinds of issues that create problems opening Word also can create
problems when opening specific documents. Take a look at the link provided
to see if any of the solutions suggested resolve the problem.

The idea is to discover the source of the problem: corrupted registry entry,
corrupted normal.dot, corrupted add-in, etc. The steps in that link will
help you isolate the source of the problem so that it can be resolved.

I figured that there was probably not that much difference between NAV 2004
and 2005 and I went ahead and disabled the Office plugin. Problem solved.
Thanks for the tip.
