Error message installing Image Composer in Windows XP

D

Daniel Hanning

When ever I try to install Image Composer 1.5 under windows XP I get this
error mssage:
"C:\Windows\System32\Autoexec.NT. The file system is not suitable for
running MS-DOS & Microsoft windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate
the application."

Can anyone help? I would like to reinstall Image Composer 1.5 and use it
with my Front Page 2000 on my Windows XP OS.

I have had no problem installing IC on any version of Windows.

Are you installing directly from the CD's autostart menu?

Do you have all AntiVirus applications disabled, including any that load in DOS mode?

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. First, yes, I am
trying to install directly from the Second disk (the on with IC in it).
Second, yes, I have gone into task manager and stoped all virus programs
prior to start.
I have received this same error message when trying to install older
programs on XP, usually the install continues inspite of this error message.
This is the first program that did not continue after the error message.
Have you seen 'Autoexec.NT' reffered to in any other problem reports,
because I tried looking and found nothing on the Microsoft KB or anywhere on
the web site.
Thank you, again, for tkaing the time to reply. It is very much appreciated.
Any furhter dircetion or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I did not have this problem Prior to my Upgrade to XP May 3rd, 2005.

Do you have a FP98 CD available, if so, you can install IC from it, as it is the same version as
included with FP2000.

So nobody has encountered a "16 bit Windows Subsystem" Error pointing out the
Atuoexec.nt file like I mentioned?
That is really odd. I have no idea why this is happening. If anyone has seen
this 16 bit Windows Subsytem error, please let me know.

Thanks,
Daniel L. Hanning

MALWARE!! Yes, this problem was created by malware. It deleted my Autoexec.nt
in my Windows/system32/ folder. I replaced it with the one in windows/repair.

Thanks to everyone that took time to try and help me out. If you see this
problem, again, you'll know what to do!

Thanks,
