problemI have read all entries on this discussion group related to
this-followed directions, but error still doing it. This is a xlsm file. On
the directions related to "Handwriting Recognition", that phrase does not
show up where they say it is. I am not an IT administrator at work, so maybe
they can see it and I cannot? I have my Excel set to Autorecover every 3
minutes, but that is not working. When I go to save it, the error meesage
above comes on and all work is lost. So I keep it workbook open, go to
Microsoft Office button and click on send and email to myself every 10
minutes or so. That way I have the most current copy.
This has been happening for 2.5 years at my office and IT cannot help. I go
to this discussion group, get help and print it for them.
Please help me.

Paula-

There are a number of reasons why Excel might be forced to close. I'm afraid
more information would be necessary for the community to give you possible
troubleshooting options.

We can assume you are using XL07 because you are mentioned working with an
XLSM file. What version of windows (and what service packs) are you using?
Does your machine automatically install Microsoft updates?

What add-ins do you have installed? What references are being used by your
VBA project? Have you (temporarily) uninstalled all add-ins, and does Excel
still close? What other programs are running when Excel closes?

What are your macros doing? I'd think a memory leak or other code-based
reasons could cause problems.

Does this happen for all workbooks or just one? If it is just this one, the
workbook itself could be corrupt- have you tried copying all content to a new
workbook to see if the problem continues to exist?

As for your reference to handwriting recognition, I don't use that
functionality and therefore can't speak to whether or not it might be causing
you problems.
