Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel WHERE is the valid location for AutoRecover?
I do what it says but it doesn't work.

Specifically: The message is: "Office might be unable to access the database or the database file might be damaged....To rebuild the db, open msoffice2008/Office, and then open the ms db utility. For more info, open the db util app and on the Help menu, click db util help."

Errors were:
ERROR: Failed to open database [Head]
ERROR: Corruption opening database [16003:""]
...
I'm still getting this error message every time I open Word or Excel.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

That sounds like an error coming off the Entourage database, nothing to do
with AutoRecover.

It indicates that the Entourage Main Identity is missing, corrupted, or at
the wrong version.

You have not given your Office version number: so the first thing I suggest
is that you check with Microsoft AutoUpdate to ensure that everything is
fully updated (if it is not, you can get this error).

Then check that the Microsoft User Data folder is in the Documents folder of
your boot drive.

Then follow the instructions to rebuild the database.

If the database is not there, open Entourage and follow the instructions in
the Help to create a new identity.

Hope this helps
